I painted nine large-scale versions of this image. Using a tightly cropped composition, I suggest a sense of impending danger that takes place beyond the edges of the canvas. Repetition mirrors the cycling thoughts of our protagonist. This “unreliable” female may have witnessed a crime, yet others are taking advantage of her self-doubt. We see her at the moment she first questions her own experience.  How do we, as the audience, decide if she is credible?
